Tara Brennan has been a legal headhunter in Asia since 1998. Formerly a law lecturer and Barrister-at-Law, Tara has worked with clients and lawyers for over two decades, navigating them through the rapidly changing & dynamic legal landscape in Asia.
Having advised leading international and regional law firms as well as multinational and regional corporates since 1998 on their recruitment strategies and needs throughout Asia, Tara has a deep understanding of the regional markets and their challenges as well as the different and multi-faceted requirements of her clients. Much of Tara’s work is “without borders” and spans most major financial and commercial centers in Asia, with a particular focus on Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing in more recent years.
Tara is regularly called upon by her clients for their most challenging assignments. She sources lawyers at all levels but specializes in Counsel/Consultant, Partner, Assistant GC and GC-level hires. With her leading market reputation and extensive relationships, Tara selects and puts forward only the most suitable lawyers and is also involved with candidate vetting. The individuals sourced by Tara usually remain for many years in the organizations in which Tara had placed them.
Recognizing the different interests between clients and individuals, as well as the concerns and sensitivities that arise during the critical stages of the recruitment and decision-making process, Tara approaches her assignments strategically and on a professional and confidential basis.

Tara commenced her legal recruitment career in Hong Kong in 1998 with a leading boutique legal recruitment firm and ultimately ran and managed its Hong Kong office as a Director.
After 8 years with that firm, Tara joined a top tier international legal recruitment firm as a Director to set up their business in Asia and remained with them for almost 4 years during which time it became one of the leading international recruitment firms in Asia.
Tara set up her own consultancy in late 2011 to provide strategic recruitment advice to her clients and individual lawyers, alongside bespoke search and selection services focusing on senior level appointments.
